Chiropractic Care

 Acupuncture

Dr. Garvey performs acupunture by insterting disposable needles into specific acupuncture points on the body.  The process is painless and takes 10 minutes. 

The modern scientific explanation is that needling the acupuncture points stimulates the nervous system to release chemicals in the muscles, spinal cord, and brain.  These chemicals will either change the experience of pain, or they will trigger the release of other chemicals and hormones which influence the body's own internal regulating system.  The improved energy and biochemical balance produced by acupunture results in stimulating the body's natural healing abilities, and in promoting physical and emotional well-being.

Common conditions Dr Garvey treats are sinusitis, headaches, menstral cramps, pain and quitting smoking.

  Active Release Technique (ART)

Once Dr. Garvey restores optimal joint function through the chiropractic adjustment, ART is used to restore normal soft tissue function.

Injured or over-used joints are surrounded by inflammed tendons, ligaments and muscles.  In time, these soft tissues develop dense, tough scar tissue.  As scar tissue builds up, muscles become shorter and weaker.  Tension on tendons cause tendonitis, and nerves can become trapped.  This can cause reduced range of motion, loss of strength and pain.  If a nerve is trapped, you may feel tingling, numbness, and weakness.

Every ART session is actually a combination of examination and treatment.  The involved areas are treated by combining precisely directed tension with very specificc patient movements.  Once the tissue is released, the range of motion is gradually restored and the problem joint heals and strengthens.

Shoulder injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome and elbow issues are a few of the common conditions that Dr. Garvey has resolved with this ART/Chiropractic combination.
